Apple iPhone sales fall in nearly all countries | BBC News

Apple boss Tim Cook tried to beat back doubts about the future of the tech giant, after it reported its biggest sales fall in more than a year.

Sales slumped 4% year-on-year in the first three months of 2024 to $90.8bn (£72.5bn), weighed down by a sharp drop in demand for iPhones.

Executives said the results were distorted by Covid-related supply disruptions, which led to unusually strong sales during the same period last year.

They said sales would return to growth in the months ahead, noting upcoming product launches and investments in artificial intelligence.

  1. Apple was solely rely on branding whereas Samsung keeps up with the innovative technology📌 Big shout out to Samsung they deserve to be number 1☑📈

  2. apple deserves it. they were just playing with people by their brand loyalty. It has to be stopped someday and now it's happening.

  3. Apple should Make phones sub 500$ sales would quadruple.
At current rate people would change iPhone once 6 years, as there is no big difference between 13,14,15, and the recent iPad pricing is a joke if you buy in India.

  4. I skip this iPhone and I’m skipping the next if I don’t see nothing new I have the iPhone 14 max and the new one looks the same if the new one looks the same same camera etc is not worth it

  5. I have never seen the use of buying expensive Apple products even though they are premium A-quality products. And also i can't stand the arrogant attitude of many ultra fanatic Apple fanboys/girls and their idoltery cult. I have been team Android from the beginning also because of the user experience and the way it allows it's users to customize their phones which is such a pleasure. Android is here to stay!

  6. Tim Cook ruined Apple, I remember the Steve Jobs Apple, it was excellent, I was an Apple lifestyle customer, had the sticker on my van,? But after the iPhone 6 I quit them, so many issues with my iPad, phones, don’t start me about their useless email, I wouldn’t buy anything other than Samsung now.

  7. Most ppl are pointing out that it’s too expensive but I think that’s only a smaller point. I think the larger issue is they’re releasing on average a new phone a year with bigger batteries and higher quality hardware so there’s no need to buy the latest tech if you already got the 13 two years ago and it’s still in great condition. Yes, the cost adds a layer to that but I think less and less customers have the need to replace their old phone since the newer ones are lasting much longer. Just as an anecdote, I’ve had an XR for 3 years and don’t plan on getting a new one for another year because it’s lasting me so much longer than my iPhone 5 and 8. Someone I know STILL uses their 8 to this day and it’s in good condition
