Investigators have recovered a data recorder from the container ship which crashed into a bridge in the US city of Baltimore, officials say.

Six people are presumed dead after the Singapore-flagged Dali cargo vessel struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge as it left port on Tuesday.

Investigators hope the recovered data recorder will answer questions about how and why the ship malfunctioned.

  1. Here's a "clue".. the boat hammered the bridge, and the bridge wasn't built to take impacts, either limit the sizes of container ships or build a bridge that can survive impacts.

  2. I wonder what important things we are being distracted from while the media pumps us full of information about an American bridge โ€ฆ.๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  4. The comments section in the comments section here is quite disturbing and makes me worried for humanity. Especially all the drama queens going on about the data recorder. Nobody was saying they were struggling to find it. Nobody. They are simply saying itโ€™s been removed and wasnโ€™t lost or damaged after the collision. For goodness sake what is wrong with people.

  5. I place the blame first and foremost on the greed of shipowners to build mammoth monsters , get certified , and put them at sea putting everything in harms way. Secondly the automation, third and foremost is the reduction in manpower. Why was there no anchor station when the vessel was making close pass to crucial installation. Lastly the ISM code has failed again. Itโ€™s to time to revert to the good of days of shipping.I request US coastguard to squarely put the blame on IMO for this shipping accident.

  7. My heart goes out to the construction workers and their families and friends. How is it a call was made that stop vehicular traffic from travelling on the bridge but the construction workers were not given a fighting chance. Some explanation is lacking here…
