  1. I don't think people really realize how expensive it is to live in California. It costs a grand or more per month just to rent a room. 20.00 per hour is nothing after taxes. A studio apartment would cost your entire monthly income. It's all relative.

  2. Not just California, here in New Zealand ours has gone up to 23 bucks an hour, a Big Mac combo now costs 24 dollars, insane. I passed 4 fast food places this week, there were 4 cars between them, No customers anymore.😢

  3. "Consumers decide how much they are willing to pay" The same consumers that don't make a living wage? If a business can't afford to stay open then shut down. Good bye fast food industry. Good bye slave wages. People will find other jobs.

  4. As for bird flu, was this a Chinese owned farm in the usa, as bird flu, and many other dis3ases come from China, ( saw many Chinese come thru to Australia since its close country, they get caught smuggling duck eggs thru border security

  5. I went to McDonald's and Burger King yesterday. The price is not that much different when minimum wage was $16 an hour. There is a $0.16 increase on their combo meals. Is that going to break the bank for Burger King and McDonald's or the consumers?

  6. Are you forgetting to add in raising cost of living, and forgetting to tell people that if minimum wage followed cost of living then people making minimum wage today, would be making $24 an hour. How do you not report on this truth! Start being honest

  7. A very strong measure to improve the economy of California.

People who have more money will spend more money.

This should also decrease welfare issues and more people will likely to be able to afford insurance.

This is very much common sense issue.

  8. Look at the bill. From what I have read, the mom-and-pop locations that have 1 or 5 locations will not be affected. Now, if you have a national franchise like McDonald's, it applies to you even if you have just 1 store in your franchise.

  9. What you don't understand is when $20hr becomes the minimum, that triggers everything to rise, then $20 is the new 15. Think: when the minimum was 5, you thought 15 would make you rich. Not the case today right?
When all costs skyrocket, 20 won't be comfortable. Then they'll say let's make it 25. If the minimum is 25, imagine the impact of every other store like home depot and Walmart who have to pay at or above minimum wage. All costs for goods and services go up to compensate.
It's identical to how the administration is printing more money. You devalue the money in all our pockets when you print a lot more at once. So you need more than you did yesterday for the same thing . Tv pundits can say inflation is receding but that means nothing because costs for goods and services are continually rising to compensate for what's happening.

  10. 20 an hour is considered poverty there. I don't get it. There is nothing about a minimum wage job that is considered "transitional ". The only way a minimum wage job is considered transitional is if you have supportive parents. If you slip through the cracks due to life circumstances, those jobs are designed to trap you……hence the reason people stay there for decades. This is the problem with corporations only caring about profits. It excludes humanity. If a job can't afford you a house, what's the point of the job existing?

  11. Employees who work at chain restaurants with 60 or more locations are entitled to the new min wage. Small business owners like Angela Marsden (actress) on interview clip here are exempt. In N Out already starts you off at $22 hr and prices are still the same with drive thru lines snaking around the lot. 😂 Nice try Fox. What's the next story you want to enrage your base with.

  12. HOURS BEING CUT FROM 40 PER WEEK DOWN TO 30 EMPLOYEES NOW NOT ABLE TO GET THIER DEMOCRAT FOOD STAMP HANDOUTS STORES CLOSING DOWN ALREADY THE DEMOCRATS LAID OFF WILL ONLY GET UNEMPLOYEMENT WELFARE HANDOUTS FOR 60 DAYS

  13. Lot of good it does to raise minimum wage when all the employers now have to raise their prices proportionately to pay them. You won't get ANY wage if your employer can't stay in business. Idiots.
