Ukraine’s effective unmanned surface vessel (USV) attacks on Russian naval facilities and vessels have caught the attention of world militaries. China, which is observing Ukraine’s sea drone attack against Russia, has asked its forces to devise an action plan against such threats. PLAN experts have suggested implementing “a multi-domain three-dimensional defence system of sensing, defending and attacking” to counter USVs. China’s assessment is significant as Taiwan is determined to purchase 200 Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) for multiple purposes. Taiwan is seeking to procure drone boats amid a fear of invasion from China where the PLAN tries to surround the island and enforce a blockade.
