CRISPR: What is the future of gene editing? | Start Here

CRISPR allows scientists to perform surgery on our DNA.
For people with genetic diseases it has transformed lives with corrections that aren’t passed on to others.
But should the technology be used in ways that permanently transform the human race?

  1. I was born with a clubbed foot. It got fixed, but it's almost certainly a consequence of genetics. Technology like this makes me fear having children less because I can eliminate that possibility.

  2. This will inevitably lead to people getting cancer from using this via gene mutations. As if the radiation from CT scanners and adjuvants from the shots are not enough. Just more customers for the allopathic medicine industry

  3. Imagine that every single generation has to edit the gene of an entire population because of a long wave of gene editing that has weaken our genome and without editing the genes we would die, but in turn we will have the best gene quality we could ever dreamed of. That's the world I want to live in!

  4. It will happen, we will be able to edit our own genes, as long as you are not trying to hurt someone. If i can get the ability to see ultraviolet or get the color changing skin of a cudle fish. Life extension or the ability to change my biology so I can survive cryogenic freezing. Why should others tell me no.

  5. All humans are infallible and therefore should never be blindly followed. God created us and we are responsible for our own health. Think about history and research. The Bible tells us all we need to live!!!

  6. I think modifying grasses that cattle eat so that they can absorb/metabolize methane AND fix nitrogen (fertilize surrounding grasses) would be a great way to soak up methane and increase the amount of cattle in a piece of land… Relatedly, having large ranches upstream of landfills would also work better with methane absorbing grasses… So you have a landfill where methane is being harvested and concerted to propane. You have methane that leaks from underground gets partially absorbed by methane consuming grasses, that get eaten by cattle nearby… Maybe throw in some insects, bacteria and worms that consume plastics as well…

  7. Its 9/2023 and if you refused the jab, you made the right decision. They did not undergo intense scrutiny, all lues. Some people right now are on their 6-7 booster, people are dying from heart attacks, fibrous clots in their arteries, aggressive cancers and sometimes more then one kind of cancer in one person.

  8. So they take a part of the DNA strand from inside one cell and replace it with some new DNA, got it. But there are millions of cells in the body, how does the newly inserted dna in one cell propogate throughout the body?

  9. How far should we be allowed to go with gene editing? As far as safely possible without paying any mind to people that assert that it's playing god when someone has to. This type of technology should have been figured out like yesterday BC

  10. I'm sure our moral outrage will restrict countries like China, Korea, India or Russia from experimenting. Do you really believe the US would not provide funding. Look at what we have now learned about the Wuhan Laboratories.

  11. Business are going to use this to make the perfect workers by changing their brain chemistry. Don’t worry about AI, worry about people using this for evil.
