  1. They had the right to decide whether they want it, they have to make a decision to votes. That all
    Votes with Sovereignty states
    Votes with Commonwealth states
    Votes with independent States
    Votes with statehood states

  2. The Taíno people were the real “Puerto Ricans”, & they were colonized 1493 by the Spaniards. Enslavement, starvation, and disease reduced them to a few thousand by 1520 and to near extinction by 1550. Those who survived mixed with Spaniards, Africans, and others.
The majority of “Puerto Ricans” can’t even trace their bloodline Taino people. They have been colonized for over 500yrs. Now the colonizers/Puerto Ricans are calling people from the U.S. “colonizers”. Hypocrisy much?

  3. Puerto Rico should be incorporated into Spain with an autonomous government. I live in the Canary Islands, we too were once a colony and second-class citizens but have since gained the same status and rights as Spaniards from the mainland, we vote for our own president, we have our own distinct culture to that of all peninsular Spaniards and our dialect and customs are protected. The EU can easily uphold Puerto Rico as France does with Guyana and the Antilles or the UK with the Falklands and it's overseas territories, plus it opens a huge door for commerce with other EU members.

Big love to my Hispanic bretheren, I hope to see you all recover your sovereignty from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
    🇮🇨🤝🇵🇷

  4. Illinois politicians and Mississippi & Louisiana residents in general:

“YES!!! Please become a state so our corruption & poverty levels all start looking AVERAGE compared to you.”

  5. I could be wrong I think PR should be its own independent country , because if it becomes apart of the US the US will impose high taxes and it will ruin alot for PR and it's people and cost of living will be higher just like what's been happening here in the US

If the people in PR can get there own president and get better government officials that will properly manage money and not think about themselves , that will invest on it's PR citizens and the island by creating more jobs , manufacturing businesses to create exports goods , then little by little it'll become a productive island that's thriving …….I'm pretty sure that there's some PR government officials that are trying to do the right thing but there's probably some gov officials that are doing shady deals and possibly pocketing money instead of using it to make things better there ………the reason why PR hasn't grown is because of the US and the not so good PR government , that's why PR remained stagnant for so many years

  6. CONGRESSIONAL DICTATORSHIP …that is what Usa keeps in place … Because in truth Puerto Rico is way too profitable for them to let us go independently… Colonial enslavement

  7. Scared Lil ppl.have been conditioned to think that they can't make it .rise up my ppl rise your heads n ur sights u to the future

  8. The USA uses Puerto Rico when they need it. There isn’t a lot of road fixing, building, education etc. either USA doesn’t t put enough or both politicians take. I hate the excuse well it’s not a state. We get it but people contribute to the dollar military tourism etc. sometimes USA uses the island for its benefits. The USA doesn’t want to keep putting hurricane money in but they have lots money. The mainland has lots corruption and issues as well.

  9. The clear and present danger of "Independence" is how far native Puerto Ricans are willing to live as an "Independent" sovereign nation.
If it entails the loss of American Citizenship after the fact, then how long will the country stay independent and safe from political and financial interests from abroad?
There are many entities out there just hoping "Independence" of Puerto Rico comes to fruition.
It'll be easy pickings for wealthy NEW colonists that will crush the "Nationalist" ideal, hope, and dream,.. turning it into an extension of their own ideals, religious beliefs, draconian laws and principles.
Then who is Puerto Rico going to count on to come to the rescue?

  10. Dear Congress. Please don't let PR become a state. That place is ghetto and crime infected. If it can clean itself up like Hawaii—what a safe place to visit–NOT THE SAFEST–but a safe place. We don't need another welfare state; I mean we already have Alabama and Mississippi and that's enough of welfare states.

  11. Does people believe there is no government or political corruption in USA, any European country or Asia? Politicians are in their positions for a reason, with the help of the rich and corporations. They instill laws to steel in our faces every single day instead of hiding it. Well, these unscrupulous wealthy individuals often go out of their way to hide their assets from scrutiny — sometimes from the public and sometimes from their own government rules, or regulatory agencies. Any system of government implement legislations —changes paid by lobbyists, corporations, and millionaires that will benefit them over anyone else, meaning you and me. With money and power, the rich people and corporations help Politicians to codify the core values of a nation via laws implemented thru government agencies and making new laws or by changing existing laws … The rest is a fallacy. Freedom to Puerto Rico and its citizens!

  12. PUERTO RICO SHOULD NOT BECOME A STATE, HIGHER PROPERTY TAXES LANGUAGE ENGLISH SPEAKING ONLY LOOK AT HAWAII THE NATIVE CANT AFORD HOMES PUERTO RICO BECOMES FOR THE RICH ONLY. I'VE BEEN IN CHICAGO SINCE 1968 DON'T BECOME A STATE PUERTO RICO GONNA BE A NIGHTMARE.

  13. Puerto Rico alone will die like Cuba. The only example is Dominican Republic but that nation is run by God. Puerto Rico better join the Russian Federation or tge People's Republic of China. But if they want to keep being a Spanish place and nation they should join DR territory with free self government.

  14. A Puerto Rican myself believe Puerto Rico deserve to become a state they can have all the resources that the other states have that they can also grow stronger and better❤

  15. As an American I say we should invest in Puerto Rico to replace our dependency on Taiwan, this way over time Puerto Rico's economy will grow, helping them remain independent. Being backed by the U.S. Puerto Rico will be able to sell to the world, safe from invasion. Puerto Rico supplies us with the complex components we need, in turn we ship whatever the island needs to survive. However long it takes, its a better alternative then sending thousands to die for an island that wont do the same for us.
