Houthi ballistic missile strikes US-owned and operated vessel, US military says

A Houthi anti-ship ballistic missile struck a US-owned and operated vessel, US Central Command said in a statement. The M/V Gibraltar Eagle, a Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier owned and operated by US-based Eagle Bulk, sustained minor damage and did not report any injuries, Central Command said. The ship is continuing on its way. CNN’s Oren Liebermann and Clare Sebastian report. #CNN #News

  28. You are not giving a "complete report". The US navy has "complete authority" to protect and defend "US flagged vessel". A war ship, under international law and treaties, does not has any authority to enforce international law.
    Now here's the part, "thee most important part", MAERSK Line flags there ships out of Singapore. The Gibraltar Eagle, the other ship the Hoothi's attacked was flagged out of the Marshall Islands. Now the Gibraltar Eagle, the fleeting company is US owed. So why do they flag their vessel out the Marshall Islands? Because they "don't want to pay US taxes. The exact same taxes that fund the Navy that spent money protecting their assets.
    An international maritime law it doesn't matter who owns the ship when it comes to a nation having legal authority to conduct any operation to support or defend that ship. What it has everything to do with is where the ship is flagged out of because then that ship becomes a piece of that nation that the ship is flying its flag.
    A warship decides to act to defend another nations asset, their needs to be SNO (statement of no objection) in place with that government prior to the offense. This is a diplomatic arrangement, usually accompanied by a trade agreement. You buy our said widgets or a different scenario we would increase inport tariffs to profit the US or cover cost of the security of defending ships under their flag. There was no SNO with either the Singapore government or the Marshall Islands government prior to this and I doubt there's one now.
    We (the US and UK) had no authority, nor did it have cause, to defend either ship. In case you're not keeping up with how this works a "warship", acting without any legal authority, under international law, is a declaration of war.
    The Houthi stopping or slowing shipping traffic is their version of a sanction. It is no different than the sanctions that the US and UK put on Russia after the breakout of the war in Ukraine. If shipping traffic slows or stops it's going to raise prices of other nations goods. The same Nations that want to support the Israeli governments genocide in a conflict "they created" that is now over a half century old that started with ethnic cleansing and then went to segregation, oppression and violating basic human rights of Palestinians. When Hamas stood up and struck a blow to Israel, everyone wanted to paint them as the bad guy. They are the ones for 50 years have been beaten, imprisoned, killed, without due process, without any recourse, without anyone giving a damn. What happened in world war II does not give you free reign to act in the same way.

    The US and the UK need to stay the hell out of it. Ships have to take the long way around? So be it. If it costs the consumers in those Nations more money for goods? So be it. Maybe then those governments will put diplomatic pressure on Israel. If Israel does not want to settle this with diplomatic means then you put sanctions on Israel.
    Might does not make right. Not for the Israel government not for the US government not for the UK government.
    You need to report the "whole truth". Stop leaving major parts out of storyline.

    O people of Yemen in particular, after Palestine, how much you are in need for Allah’s khalifa, Al-Mahdi Nasser Mohammad Al-Yemeni, in order to defeat the enemies of Allah in the Red, Arab, and White Seas, also the Oceans; Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific; the north, south, east, and west. The reason is simply that the sea, the land, and the planet Saqar are all soldiers of Allah, my Lord and your Lord, Who made its pleasure is the same as the pleasure of Allah’s khalifa, the Imam Mahdi: (That we be servants of Allah, my Lord and their Lord) That is Allah, the Truth, there is no god but He, the Creator of the kingdom of heavens and earth, and the One who controls the kingdom of heavens and earth, in whose hand are the treasures of the heavens and the earth; That is Allah, the Truth, who perceives sight, but sight does not perceive Him. He is in control over the enormous Throne. That is Allah the Truth, my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him, He Alone, no partner for Him, and submit to Allah’s khalifa, nonetheless, surely neither you nor your enemies on sea, land or air can withstand the prowess of Allah, the most powerful and most severe in punishment. Surely here are the brigades of satan’s loyal-friends, the protectors of the killers of children and women in the Red and Arabian Seas, who have come to defend the security of the mischief makers from Israel in the blessed land.
    And I swear by Allah the Great, Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the enormous Throne, that I am able, with the permission of Allah, the One, the Subduer, to defeat them alone; I do not assign anyone but myself to fight them altogether, so I fight them with the words of my Lord’s capability, so what do you think of who that Allah is with him? Can anyone defeat him?! Glory be to Allah the Great, (God forbids) that His khalifa is defeated by all soldiers of satan, altogether Confirming with the word of Allah the Most High: [Al-Nesã`a ] 4:84
    {فَقَاتِلْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَا تُكَلَّفُ إِلَّا نَفْسَكَ ۚ وَحَرِّضِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۖ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَن يَكُفَّ بَأْسَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۚ وَاللَّهُ أَشَدُّ بَأْسًا وَأَشَدُّ تَنكِيلًا ‎﴿٨٤﴾‏} صدق الله العظيم [سورة: النساء].
    And I say: O people of Yemen, accept who Allah chose him as a khalifa over the whole world; land and sea. The choice and consultation is not yours to choose khalifa of Allah over His kingdom besides Allah, glory be to Him the Exalted Most High above what they associate (with Him)! Confirming with the word of Allah the Most High: [Al-Qasas] 28:68-70
    {وَرَبُّكَ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ وَيَخْتَارُ ۗ مَا كَانَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَتَعَالَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ‎﴿٦٨﴾‏ وَرَبُّكَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ ‎﴿٦٩﴾‏ وَهُوَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِي الْأُولَىٰ وَالْآخِرَةِ ۖ وَلَهُ الْحُكْمُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ ‎﴿٧٠﴾‏} صدق الله العظيم [سورة: القصص].
