Intercity bus travel in the U.S. has long been dominated by one iconic brand. With its fleet of 1,200 buses Greyhound shuttles nearly 16 million passengers annually to roughly 2,400 North American destinations. While the company caters to budget conscious, long distance travelers it also offers charter services for businesses, conventions and schools. But competition from low cost airlines and a combination of increased automobile access and low fuel prices have led to mounting headwinds for the bus operator. The pandemic has also caused passenger demand to plummet. So, what does the future look like for the bus operator and what happens to intercity bus service in America once the pandemic ends?

I was born in the backseat of a Greyhound bus rolling down highway 41.
In Canada Greyhound is called Where You Be Heading. Literally.
You need ground travel better stick to Amtrak!
Plus you have a better experience just doing Spirit for the price of a bus ticket
The greyhound dog is FAST, they need to pick another dog breed.
In really all countries , is odisey buit company buses very hard .😊
😊
Well tica bus work this company
They need to hire caucasians as well.
Greed. Selfishness. Lack of customer service and no employees.
Grayhound… the prison experience
Do we want grayhound to make a comeback? Hell no lol
The bus as a mode of transportation needs to be removed from the mass transit system. Most bus systems are seriously underutilized, and no one wants to drive them. Metro trains can serve people just as well, and probably even more efficiently. I regularly took a metro train in DC, and I loved it. It’s especially great for bar hopping; no designated driver, just stumble your drunk selves on and off the train and voila you just had a fun relaxing night out.
When you’re on a bus there’s always the unsettling feeling one gets that they are too large for the street. Semi truck drivers avoid city centers for the same reason, which is that they are just too large for the streets.
What's happened to the good old days when lots of white folk would ride from New York city to say,Florida along with black folks and others in the 50s and sixties, and 70s and 80s and 90s,,,,,,,now it's mostly blacks, crying babies, folks get on the busses high, smelly(some of them),,,,snoring, talking loud!!please bring back the good old days of courteous drivers, quiet passengers, clean buses, timely arrivals and departures,,,oh, and clean busses!! Thank you greyhound,,hope you're reading this comment!
How Greyhound became the worst Bus Service in America
The problem is that interurban bussing is seen as a corporate for-profit enterprise, not as an essential public service. Until it is recognised as such, there will be no improvement. And here in Canada, there's nothing left to improve anyway. It's a shameful situation, and there is no political will to do anything about it. Shame on you Canadian politicians at every level and in every party. You allowed First to move in from the UK and destroy our industry. And now you haven't a strategic clue what to do next, because you have never had Plan A, let alone Plan B. 🇨🇦
I just took one over the holidays from Cincinnati to Wisconsin. It was the most disgusting and awful trip I’ve ever experienced. The stations were filthy and unsafe. the buses were tattered and gross. i actually got sick because of it. The bus smelled like crap and body odor. It was so bad my nose went numb after a while. There was a 6 hour delay in Chicago and we were expected to just wait it out in the nasty station downtown where migrants were also sleeping.
I don't believe it can be saved. Where there are terminals they are dangerous, there are stops that drop you off at a gas station or open field, customer service is horrible and the busses are never on time.
Greyhound doesn't even service where I live anymore they do not have service in Oregon anymore
For several years, I took Greyhound to visit my relatives in Michigan. The trip was twenty – four to thirty hours long, but the scenery makes the long trip worthwhile.
