How did oligarch Dmitry Firtash, aka Putin’s ‘Man in Ukraine’, end up buying a tube station in the heart of London? And what does this tell us about the British attitude to dirty money?

London is the go-to place for Putin’s associates to come and spend their dirty money – billions of dollars are thought to be laundered through the capital every year. But since the Russian invasion and subsequent war in Ukraine, the UK is now under pressure to ramp up sanctions and crack down on it.

Oliver Bullough, journalist and author of ‘Butler to the World’ investigates Dmitry Firtash and analyses the UK’s role as a butler to oligarchs, kleptocrats and tax dodgers.

Open your eyes younglings please, for the sake of your children and their children. The US tried to start a war with Russia by jeopardizing their national security. This will lead to a war of NATO vs Russia and China and nobody will win. Keep in mind that China has to join Russia so they don’t get extorted after Russia is gone. Putin literally signed a deal to remove our weapons and soldiers from Ukraine, to stop the war in Ukraine and WE declined.   47. Not being funny, but how many of the properties in central london do you think are owned by British citizens. Most are by foreign wealth not to say all are as tainted as this. But you will, most wealthiest/ extreme high value individuals do this. Also one of the best ways to convert dirty money to clean money is by properties there fore your money is in the system. Why are their so many barbour shops etc all on same street sometimes. Because they are so many poeple needed haircuts that 4 shops isn't enough

  48. What exactly is wrong with that? I don't understand how unethical business practices automatically mean that a person isn't allowed to own property? Everyone no matter how rich or poor is allowed to buy property all over the world, so why aren't oligarchs allowed to?
