How The ‘Boring’ Toyota Camry Became A Best-Seller In America

The Toyota Camry could be called one of the most rational and reliable vehicles ever made. While Toyota and its passenger cars do have a reputation for being rather bland, it appears that quite a few people do want to own one.

In 2019, the Camry was the best-selling passenger car in the United States. However, sedans like the Camry seem to be steadily vanishing from roads in the U.S. and other markets around the world.

  1. This Camry does not look boring at allz
In fact looks so good.Put some good wheels on it and will look beautiful.
    Toyotas are bulletproof!
    I still remember old 2000s 4Runner.

  2. Sport Utility Vehicle? Haha! An SUV is this generations Station Wagon and there’s nothing sport or utility about most of the SUV’s or even Pickup Trucks. There’s a high level of hypocrisy and entitlement in the USA that doesn’t exit outside the USA borders. The Camry is a great car and the newest model is a great looking car. I currently drive a Maxima and am considering a new vehicle, looking at a Camry as my new ride.

  3. These are not plain Jane vehicles at all. I have a 2022 Camry and it looks beautiful with modern styling and all the technological bells and whistles. Add to that Toyotas reputation for longevity and that’s why the Camry is so popular.

  4. All the automobile publications care about is the upper model of everything and if its "sporty", I've loved the Camry since my first one when i was 16. I've had 4 others.

  5. My personal openen i have traveled in VW TYGUN and TOYATA INOVA but in tygun in INDIAN road ways i did not feel a single jurk i feel safty feel in tygun but
In in INOVA travel over speed i get affraid while siting near driver seat thanks INDIAN FROM INDIA K.P.GUHAN.ADVOCATE.

  6. I can relate. I just bought my 1st Toyota & it’s a Camry. I’d rather drive a large truck but I’m a road warrior salesman in SoCal & our family car is already a large SUV. I’m loving my Camry & it honestly looks like my old Lexus!!

  7. Iindifference ???? Yeah im indifferent about a manufacturer that has the most reliable cars in the world – or if you want to keep spending money on reapirs — get a ford or most anything else – except honda

  8. I bought a 2008 salvaged Camry LE in 2017 with 144,000 miles because I was willing to trust the fact that it’s a reliable car. Now almost 6 years later the car has 223,000 miles and It’s still going strong with minimal maintainance, I need to upgrade a few things on it but overall it gets me where I need to go as long as the oil is clean and the tank has gas. My next car is most likely going to be a 2018 Camry or something like that whenever it’s time to upgrade. I love my Camry it’s been through so much!

  9. "Nobody really wants to own Camry" – is quite controversial statement. On post-soviet territory this car is extremely desired and popular among different generations from millenials to elderly people.

  10. One word. Reliability. We had a 1990 Camry for about 10 years before we traded it in for the new RAV4. In those 10 years the only thing that failed in it's later years was it's battery which was understandable due to it's age but easy to replace. Never had any engine problems with the car at all. Did yearly maintenance, oil change, tire rotation, fluids, etc…. ran without a problem.

  11. I make car keys and Toyota always seem to be the most sold keys out of all the makes. the other day I had a customer who still drives a Previa. Jesus that van is still working? yup 400k mileage and still working totally fine.

  12. My primary school principal drove a 2005 Camry, and we used to clown it as kids , parked next to Mercs and Beemers , I'm 25 now, and that thing is still running stress free. All of a sudden, Toyota is better than the germans to me.

  13. In 2023 the usually zesty and reliable Honda Accord is not only quite expensive but also lacking in the usual Accord qualities that made it such a hit. In past years, it was always Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. As far as I can see, that leaves only the Camry. I hope that they don't cheap out.

  14. Toyotas are the king of vehicles reliability, I bought a LE model new in 2008 and til today it still runs and drive like the days I bought it. Currently it has 90k miles, drive better then most new cars hat I have driven. Hats off to Toyota!!!
