Canned sardines are a cultural icon in Portugal. The fish has such a long history that it even has its own festival. Family-owned Ramirez & Sons has kept the canning tradition alive for nearly 200 years. But it hasn’t been easy. The company has faced dropping fish stocks and a revolution. So how has Ramirez survived? We visit Portugal to find out.
EDITOR’S NOTE: A previous version of this video incorrectly stated Portugal had a Mediterranean coastline.

is it normal for the works to touch the sardines with bare hands?
Oh and I dont suppose fishing them has anything to do with the numbers? downvoted.
Was about to call out that climate change bit but glad I’m not alone 😂
Yeap…raising temperature of the ocean is the cause, not the over fishing of 100.000 tons a year 👍
Most of it stolen from the Moroccan waters.
If Business Insider did a story on stinky feet they would blame it on climate change. The unthinking narrator shows a slide on gross overfishing going back to the 1970's then says today's low catch is due to hot water. Lying climate nazis want to run your life through the cause that can't be proven. Immediately stopped their propaganda video when it was clear it is designed to elect liberals.
If you own the building it's easier to run a successful business. So if you are your supplier you are doing the same.
People would rather eat garbage. Eat more canned fish! It's delicious and good for you!
Funny story: when working at a factory, one of the janitors was an old Newfie guy (slang for someone from Newfoundland, Canada…They're an odd bunch) who would tell outlandish stories on breaks and lunch.
The absolute best was when he enthusiastically claimed that his father was the person who INVENTED putting fish into cans…it was pretty great breaktime entertainment lmfao.
Business Insider mostly works with their Far Left Hand only……
Business Insider is Anti Zionist and Pro Terrorism.
Selling to the Nazis? I've heard enough . I won't eat this. I won't buy a Mercedes either.
