4. Also, let's not confuse that the Port of Baltimore is of much greater importance to America's commerce than the outer belt road bridge ever was. As a side note, the bridge falls under Maryland Transportation authority for maintenance and is not an official route of the Federal Interstate Highway System. The bridge was designated to be a HazMat route due to the fact that HazMat cannot be carried through tunnels and I doubt that it would be re-certified presently due to the amount of estuaries, waterways, and residential areas adjacent to the roadway. Fund the salvage operation and clear the channel for normal port operations. Bridge construction can wait. Commuters and vacationers can take the sceenic route for awhile. BTW: The I-95 interchange was reconfigured for six lane traffic in 2014. Six lanes of traffic to a four-lane bridge, Hmmm! Sure saves a lot of time and legalities on demolition permits.

37. The first thing I thought was why there were no barriers to protect the bridge. After seeing the aerial view a few days later, I realised there was one small barrier on each side of the bridge to protect it from ships coming directly at it. The barrier was still intact so the ship might have came in at an angle so miss the barrier and hit the bridge pier. There needs to be more than one barrier or bigger barriers. The barriers must also be upgraded to withstand much larger ships.
