12. I have a different take…

    My family gave me nothing to "teach me the value of money" despite having millions of dollars. I paid for my first car, college, grad school, student loans, wedding, house, medical bills, etc. Fine. That's the standard situation.

    That said, If they think I'm going to help them later in life when they need it, they're f'n crazy. They can take all that money they saved and spend it on nurses and anyone else they need around to keep them company.

    Time is also a valuable resource. My parents can learn a valuable lesson about that when they have very little while I still have a lot and aren't spending it on them.

Our choices are between food , shelter , clothing , high priced medical care and if we work a second job can we afford school tuition. God forbid someone in the family gets seriously sick or injured. The opportunities in the land of the free unfold differently for most of us.

28. Her saying "show me a wealthy family that's happier" is such pandering to the majority and non wealthy people. Can we ever just be honest despite what people want to hear? How are you judging how happy people are, how would you know? Actually the only studies we do have on the subject say money makes you a lot happier up to and a little past where basic needs are met, and then only slightly happier after that. And no I'm not wealthy just honest.
