Sell or be banned in the U.S. that’s the dilemma facing TikTok, the social media behemoth owned by a Chinese firm. Lawmakers passed and President Joe Biden signed the bill calling on TikTok owner Bytedance to sell TikTok within one year or be banned in the U.S. Bytedance says it plans to sue, and creators like Terrell Wade are watching with extreme interest. “TikTok is a great platform to be on,” he told “NewsNation Prime.” And he agrees that the ban could be a First Amendment violation.

  1. It's a communist owned spying platform! Selling it won't make a bit of difference! Simply needs to be banned in the US! I mean how dare they! Only the American Government has the right to ILLEGALLY SPY ON ITS CITIZENS!!
    sarc/off…

  2. The ignorant practice of randomly stating parts of the Constitution in order to excuse away crime is lazy and irresponsible. And most of the time it is corporate fake news that drives it to extreme ridiculousness before it is forgot. All rights are limited when they endanger or remove the rights of someone else. Simple legal standard, if proven, justifies the ban of TikTok. Presenting it as a first amendment right only makes Terrell appear either criminal or stupid.

  3. the ban is specifically about protecting privacy. this should've been put on the ballot so the people decide. if the people voted for the ban, then we could make an argument that the ban does not violate our first amendment rights.

  4. China business has no 1st amendment right under America constitution …this is why content creators need to go get a real job ..Banned Tic Tok now ❗️😡😡😡😡😡

  5. Content creators really think they're something that the world can't do without ….I feel sorry for ppl like him because getting paid for nothing days are number …

  6. TikTok is allowed to exist as long as they sell it to U.S. owners where they don't have to oblige to data requests from the Chinese government. If Apple and Facebook oblige to U.S. government data requests, you think ByteDance in China doesn't? Naive.

  7. This attack on TikTok seems like the U.S. being mad about such a successful and profitable product not being a home-grown American product and now they are trying to obtain a piece of the pie.

If they were truly concerned about security measures on social media they would address all platforms because they have all been problematic. Facebook has scammers who extort individuals for money or blackmail, Instagram incites eating disorders, SnapChat is a black market for narcotics and contraband, Discord is a stomping ground for pedophiles and content featuring minors, and so on.

Why do all of these platforms still get to exist? Because they are American-based and therefore the government can profit off them – who cares what illicit behaviour is occurring.

As soon as a product rises to the top that is not in the U.S. all of a sudden all of Congress is up in arms, moving bills to pass at lightning speed, and banding together because of "national security issues." Utter bullshit. Your motives are based on greed, nothing more. At least be authentic about it.

  8. No, if a sworn enemy of the United States is producing a product they will not allow their own people to use, Chinese people are not allowed to use TikTok FYI, the United States should have a right on who controls all the data gathered in their own country.

    It’s not a ban, it’s a divestiture of ownership.

  9. Rofl first amendment…. where was this when non leftist chat companies were shut down… all of a sudden a company from china that's what we up in arms over…
