“It enrages a lot of women and it could be the issue that costs him the election.”

Trump’s abortion statement says lawmaking will be left up to individual states. This could leave him with serious problems in states like Florida where the issue “is going to drive a lot of young women to the polls”, says Sarah Baxter.

  1. At first, I thought this was going to be a reasonably thought out point of view, but then nearing the end when you don’t believe in states rights exposed your anti-american viewpoint. Then you’re all in for guns statement proves you’re against the constitution of the United States. So basically on one hand you for something that is unconstitutional and you’re against something that is constitutional, and we wonder why the country is in such trouble.

  2. Let this channel be clear and stop the fake news and manipulating of the viewers. The Supreme Court ruling and overturning a Roe versus Wade was not banning abortion, let’s be extremely clear and factual.

  3. I think, regardless of which side of the abortion issue your on , what the Supreme Court did is right a wrong. The RvW decision in the 1970s was flawed constitutionally from the beginning. The dissenting justices (Byron White and William Rehnquist) clearly laid out why they knew in the future it would be overturned. Until someone clearly defines why abortion is constitutional , it probably should remain in the purview of the states. As it stands now, abortion is constitutionally in the hands of the people, not the federal government.

  4. So sick and tired of the abortion discussion. A majority of Republicans running for office, if not all of them -including Trump until right now – defended right to abortion to 15 or 16 weeks of pregnancy. Democrats decried this as an 'abortion ban', their stance essentially being no limits to abortion. Pro life will never win in a country that defends freedom of conscience. Abortion to full term IS infanticide. It seems that despite a majority of Americans (70%) favoring up a 16 week limit, this issue will be run around eternally. Please.

  5. Trump will lose this election because his previous supporters like me will not vote for him because he's turned out to be pro-abortion after all. We will not vote for an abortionist.

  6. You Brits don't seem to get it. Trump's signature policy was to appoint Judges to interpret Constitutional law just as written and intended when passed. Government legitimacy absolutely depends on the social contract Americans accepted when their state joined the Federation. The Constitution does as much as humanly possible to insure long term protection of our liberties by not concentrated too much power in the hands of any small group by creating Executive, Legislative, and Judicial roles and limitations. Thus, the impact on Roe Vs. Wade of his appointments is of insignificant importance in the scheme of things. Predictably, the imperfect members of a politically appointed supreme court strayed from their proper role and tried to legislate a sticky political issue with that fatally wrong decision which then placed it into Federal jurisdiction, where it never belonged. It now belongs to state governments to legislate.

There is a distinction between moral issues and the law. For instance, a state could not automatically make it illegal to lie. They are however justified to make lying a crime in circumstances where it harms others by stealing what is rightfully theirs or causing injustice to them. Properly, abortion laws should protect the rights of all to the maximum extent possible and, critically, it should have a broad consensus of support. We have no absolute right to enforce our moral judgements on others, especially when they are the majority. The consensus positions on when abortion should be legal and what the limitations should be will vary by state and over time as well. The issue has been a good political issue and the propaganda has influenced many in ways that will hopefully fade over time.

Any party not recognizing when to use restraint in making state laws, such that it offends the majority of that state's citizens, deserves to be defeated at the polls. If Republicans or Democrats cannot understand the natural limits of power, they will sacrifice the vast numbers of children who can be saved from indiscriminate freedom to abort at will up to the date of birth for little or no reason. I would not like to be responsible for such a result, and hopefully they will act responsibly rather than pursuing the self-gratification of appearing virtuous.

  7. lol the times radio couldnt have been more wrong on this many american channels are not saying trumps chances are blown by this im sorry but if this is the state of media its no wonder why people do not take the mainstream media seriously anymore.

  8. For 40 yrs, I've been telling people that abortion should be up to the states. It's part of the genius of the founding fathers; read the tenth amendment. I'm not a huge Trump fan, but good on him for this one.
