US President Biden wants Israel to agree to cease-fire | DW News

US President Joe Biden has said he doesn’t agree with the approach taken by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Gaza. Biden called for an immediate halt in fighting to allow for significant food supplies to be brought in over a period of six to eight weeks. Renewed cease-fire negotiations held in Egypt have stalled. Hamas – recognized as a terrorist organization by the German government, the EU, the US and some Arab states – said the Israeli proposal did not meet Palestinian demands.

As Muslims around the world celebrate the end of the holy month of Ramadan, Palestinians in Gaza are marking Eid under the shadow of war. The Hamas-run health ministry says at least 14 people were killed and dozens injured by Israeli strikes on the eve of the holiday. At this year’s Eid, most of Gaza’s population are displaced from their homes, and facing critical shortages of food and other essential supplies. Though markets were selling festive food and clothing ahead of Eid, much of it was at highly inflated prices.

  1. And again those 14 people killed and not war crimes as they are not western citizens, one thing i don’t understand about is when the same thing happened in Ukraine from Russia is war crimes but in Palestine from Isreal is till self defence, what a scary world we living in now

  2. I’m glad that President Biden finally called for a cease fire, it’s months too late. I hope he means what he said, this is one of the only things in his policy that I strongly disagree with

  3. So… is the US gonna actually do anything to make Israel allow aid in or are they just "strongly urging" them to let the Gazan children get some food while they're dying of starvation?

  4. Funny were not supposed to be fir negotiating with terrorist but Biden has benn doing that since Afghanistan and now wants Israel to stop fighting and allow terrorists hamas to regain strength steal more humanitarian aid

  5. This is insane! Biden continues to give money and weapons to Netsnyshu because of the power of the rich pro Israel lobby. Netanyahu knows that Biden doesn’t dare restrict weapons before the election. It’s evil. The flow of food?? How about the diseased displaced million living in tents?

  6. On one side US is supplying deadly arms to Israel responsible for Genocide in Gaza & while on other side it talking about ceasefire. It's double standard of US. US never wants peace in Middle East keeping eye on It's interest in oil & selling arms. Israel is It's proxy

  7. Biden is worried about his loss of votes in the upcoming election . That is all he is concerned about – himself . Palestinian Americans have voiced their complaints about events in Gaza . Schumer thinks he can run Israel better than Israel . 🇺🇸 Trump 2024 ! 🇺🇸

  8. No, US president have hidden agenda with Israel, US provides weapons to Israel for gaza war and on the other hand calling ceasefire. US want conflict with iran also and eliminate Palestine from world charts. The game is so dangerous US may regret later. US hegemony in the world reached at the edge and its time to fall down.

  9. If the U.S. equally applied its definition of terrorism to all countries, rather than
strategically calling any form of resistance to its political agenda terrorism, than the U.S. would be the biggest state-sponsored terrorist state in all of history. The word terrorism has gotten so watered down and simply means an enemy of the U.S. or israel now.
    Terrorism should be defined by
    # of civilians killed for political/
religious motives (U.S. + israel lead statistically)

  10. Israel has agreed numerous times to a 6 week ceasefire, Hamas keeps rejecting it. Why isn't Biden and others putting pressure on Hamas, not Israel. And why would you say that your of your closest allies is making a mistake during wartime. Especially coming from the U.S., who has a history of military interventions of countries thousands of miles away, not at all your borders like in Israel, and has caused far more civilian casualties in its wars. Pure political hypocrisy.

  11. For 80 years the Palestinians have been supporting terrorist organizations starting from cooperating with Israel and then failing to deal with the consequences

  12. One question Mr. Biden: do international laws apply equally to ALL states and governments of the world? It doesn't seem to me, and then the US no longer has any moral authority to sanction other countries for violating various laws.p.s. People's lives, regardless of race, religion or color, are precious. This should and must be supported by the "world's gendarme".
