US ‘won’t have much choice’ but to increase rates to counter rising inflation

Already stubbornly high inflation in the US has risen even faster than expected.

It is fueled by higher costs for petrol and housing.

The Motley Fool Chief Investment Officer Scott Phillips says if inflation ticks up in the US, it “pushes things further away”.

Mr Phillips told Sky News Australia that the US “won’t have much choice” but to increase interest rates.

“If inflation goes up, they’re going to have to do something on rates.”

  1. They released Covid, tricked our dumb leaders in to lockdowns, money was printed, inflation was induced. All calculated well! We’re less productive than ever, we’re more divided than ever. Congrats to the Chinese and Russians well played!

  2. Rate cuts were based on hope and not much else.
Another problem is that the USA is generally the leader, so other Western nations might also see an uptick in inflation.

  3. 😂😂😂😂😂😂*FOX SAID: 29 Jan 2024 — Former President Donald Trump said stock market gains are the result of investors betting he will beat President Joe Biden in the 2024* So the great economy and job creation fuelling inflation is TRUMPS FAULT.
