Palm oil is cheap and ubiquitous. It’s used in thousands of everyday products and is the most widely consumed vegetable oil on the planet. You can get a kilo of palm oil for just $2. But its usage has become unsurprisingly controversial, as huge areas of rainforest have been cut down or burned to make way for palm plantations. So, why is this oil still so cheaply and readily available?

Why Palm Oil Is So Cheap
source
dropping USD as global trade currency … would have better impact than a video …
things from east will not be so cheap ..
you will save the planet..
It is the reason why heart attacks are increasing in india
85% of palm oil is from Malaysia and Thailand and no one from those countries was interviewed . People who are interviewed sit in London and they know exactly what is happening on the ground .
Trying to avoid palm oil is possible. But its tough finding products if it isnt given a label telling its palm oil free…
Pam oil se cancer hotta hai Modi Jee is oil ko India m ban kro Modi Jee .
Love these feel good pieces
Everything that comes out of west is good for health. Like olive oil, wine, cheese, I have even seen articles which say asians should switch from rice to wheat!
I don't eat palm oil with food. That's beauty of keto lifestyle as I know exactly every single product I put in my mouth ..
Nope! … Carnivore for the last 17 years .. and just went RAW PRIMAL since November! …best health EVER!!!!!
So palm oil is very efficient but the production is problematic. Not the palm oil.
Ridiculous! Who sponsored these documentary? Soya beans and other competitors industry and companies for sure. Havent they observed in their very own backyard how many natural and ecosystem has destroyed by their own industrialization. Poke your eyes!
Europe is the second largest consumer, no? lol
deforestation of palm tree in malaysia does NOT heavily impact the environment, they rarely burn the trees. they only cut down the trees. I live in Malaysia and still breathe a fresh air despite having palm trees left and right 😂😂 idk about Indonesia tho, but they did burn their palm trees and cause massive haze.
🥴😵😵💫😱😥😢😭
I don't know about the deforestation. But the labourers in malaysia aren't exploited. They are paid about the same or more than the vegetable n fruit farmers. Most palm oil is processed in factories by machines. Nobody is churning it by hand like this video.
terimakasih sudah berbagi , video bagus
If it were just for "human consumption" it was fine. A glass of red oil next to the stove. But it's for the food industry, making "food-like substances" sold in a box, toxic and harmful for the human organism. If no one bought these, no one gave these to their kids, some wouldn't get rich any more from deforestation, food industry and from your pocket. The other problem is the excessive deep frying in PROCESSED oils. Harmful imbalance of omega 6 (processed cheap oils in everything) and omega 3 (traditionally used hard oils). Don't buy deep fried fast food or anything cooked with processed vegetable oil. And after these considerations who needs so much of palm oil? The food industry, but not your health.
when you realise america deforested entire norther American continent killed hundreds of thousands of wildlife and now they make fancy "roundtable" committee to prevent now developing countries to exploit their land.

The longer is your packaged foods expiry date

The farmers are not paid proper remuneration for the fresh fruit bunches. That is why the oil is cheap. It is so at the cost of thousands of farmers shedding tears. There is no big loss for the consumers to pay some fifty more rupees per litre. They are millions in number. The loss is born by thousands of growers. Please think over. How this will reach the policy makers. It is very important to guard the interest of growers.
Wow all these plot land all that deforestation all that habitat such controversial…well u only heard these term if its planted by developing nation. If western does it, the terms would be cutting edge tech and inovation😅😅 Hippocrits like corn/soy/potatoes palnted above the sky
Lets take cheap palm oil and soya protein and adulterate every food with it under 100 fake names to make more shekels while people suffer irritable bowel disease, skin disease, low testosterone, heart disease and cancer
I love comments. They are not agreeing with the video
No one's talking about the cases of increased HEART DISEASE ,STROKES and increase the risk of CANCER due to palm oil.
It helps the industry to cheaply mass produce products.
And also helps the medical industry to milk in some good money from the issues caused due to consumption.
Basically the consumer is being fooled and exploited by them.
Before palm oil malaysia grew rubber trees
Palm Oil is cheap because its a perenial crop and grows everywhere. Pretend also it just readily falls into a processing plant. Alright.
They burn down rainforest and then plant a new forest. How is that emitting CO2
