Will Best Buy Survive Amazon?

23

Amazon has shattered traditional brick-and-mortar stores across sectors, but there’s one retail giant that still stands amid the rapidly changing retail market: Best Buy. In 2012, the electronics chain almost went under. Then, somehow, it didn’t.

Why Amazon Hasn’t Killed Best Buy

  1. The son-of-a-… don’t provide customers a phone number for contacting sales employees. You cannot order/purchase products by directly speaking to a human! This is intentional& it stinks!

  2. This crossed my mind when I brought a TV from Best buy. I got a 5-year warranty through them and they may not be around the next few years to obligate it.

  3. It will survive. Until Amazon offers a warranty like Best Buy offers I will continue to purchase large appliances and electronics at Best Buy. Have a problem with a monitor and bought the 4 year warranty for 40-50 bucks. They either replace it or give you store credit minus the warranty. Have a problem with a similar product and you bought the squaretrade warranty from amazon or another 3rd party warranty? They make it as difficult and time consuming as possible to use the warranty and then deny you. And most of the time they make you pay to ship the product. Not to mention shipping these bigger more expensive items to your house is dangerous as most times consumer items are always handled with far less consideration than when items are delivered in mass to big box stores, always order items to the store and then pick them up. That goes for Best Buy and Apple. There will always be good reasons for big box stores especially due to the trend of Amazon products being and becoming more and more saturated with 5,000 choices of the same crappy thing that was made in the same factory just rebranded something different and the price marked up 300%.

  4. I buy everything from Amazon. Everything — but electronics requires a lot of knowledge and specialty. You can't order a big screen TV off Amazon without worrying it'll get damaged…

  6. Most of all of its electronics all overpriced, looked at the price of z fold 4 from 5 1/2 months ago, still expensive $1900 to $2100,that's a ripoff since you can get them for less at Amazon and even samsung themself, all the new tablets and phones are overpriced and even by sept this year those prices will still be high,no way am I spending that much money for a tablet or phone ever.

  7. Its a very simple formula to be successful even as brick and morter retailers, and that to have what people want at a fair price with a great return policy. No one likes taking the time to goto a store only to find theres nothing in their worth your while. A waist of time and energy and gas money going someplace that always lets you down. The key is to have a lot of what people want in store ready to purchase then and there. you have to out amazon amazon. And make it a showroom thats worth your invested time. Even if theirs items you had no intentions on buying. See new products, not just in one genre but in other areas as well. And most of all only cary products that have longevity. dont sell cheap products!!. as in cheap quality. only sell that which will make the buyers happy. a good product and purchase goes a long way to repeat business. If your satisfied with your purchased the first thing youl do is remember it when time comes for another buy. also keep your stores modern. The biggest reason why so many retailers went under is because they didnt properly renovate and advance the shopping experience. they kept their store models the same for decades upon decades. barely even shifting the products around the stores. Shopping in such places felt antiquated. more over, not being stocked with the items that you needed. not to mention being overpriced. people found better deals online all at their fingertips.

  9. Yes because I don’t buy electronics from 3rd party distributors. And if they ever shut down I will buy my electronics from the source or Wal Mart. And they have credit cards.

  10. This video was made before covid. After the lockdowns were lifted, I've visited and saw a lot of customers there. I could tell people including me just wanted to shop outside. But China has just lifted its lockdowns and our government might force new lockdowns because of new variants. If that happens, then Best Buy will suffer and will have to do layoffs and downsize. I hope that doesn't happen.
