‘You can clap for that, please’: Biden’s request of the audience during St Patrick’s Day speech

Sky News host Caleb Bond says US President Joe Biden’s speech over the weekend for the celebration of St Patrick’s Day “didn’t go all that well”.

“We’re used to him stumbling over his words – now, he’s not happy with the reaction of the crowd,” he said.

Over the weekend, President Biden welcomed the Irish Prime Minister, Leo Varadkar, to the White House to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.

During a reception to celebrate the Irish holiday, the President asked for the audience to “clap” while delivering remarks.

“They wouldn’t actually clap for him because they couldn’t understand a word he said,” Mr Bond said.

  13. He's wearing the same shoes my grandmother wore when she was in the nursing home dementia ward. People with dementia need these shoes because they often get so mentally overwhelmed in normal situations that their brain forgets they are walking and they stumble. He has 18 months left until he's bound to a mobility scooter.

  28. Joe's predicament can hopefully, at least, get the shoe companies to realize the need for more professional looking medical shoes. People still want to look good in retirement– go to church, theatre, weddings, funerals. Just change the outer shell material!

A professor who successfully predicted many presidential elections in the past actually believes that the current president has a good chance of winning.President Biden reminds me of the former pastor of St. Brendan's Church of Bronx, New York. Several years ago, Fr. Raul was nominated as the pastor of St. Brendan's Church of the Bronx, N.Y. There was a 24 hour lower church that he closed. Now the upper church is not open as much as it used to be. He closed the bathrooms using covid as a justification. He stopped the film series, using the pandemic as an excuse. In addition, he placed barricades between the pews which make the place feel more like a museum than a church. Even though there is a funeral home nearby, he stopped the church calendar. He stopped the Tenebrae masses. He avoid showing up for confession and uses another priest often. If I ask the priest Fr. Perez a question about God during confession then he may say that I am disrupting the process. He is available by appointment only even for the deacon. The pastor avoids saying sermons for his daily masses and saying "Body of Christ" when giving the Holy Communion. He has avoided answering theological questions. He also avoided going to masses and events done by others in the parish. Yet this pastor got renominated. In a similar way, President Biden could get reelected too. My daughter will vote again for this president no matter what he does.

  39. At this point the White House needs to hire a warm up comedian to work the crowd, complete with flashing cue signs to “applaud now”, regardless of what Joe is mumbling
