The U.S. gross domestic product — the broadest measure of economic activity — grew a revised 5.2% in the third quarter of 2023. That’s the highest quarterly GDP growth in nearly two years, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Reade Pickert, Federal Reserve editor for Bloomberg, joins CBS News to unpack the state of the economy.

  1. We aren’t buying this line of crap. Housing is prohibitively expensive, wages have not kept up with record inflation, and life is objectively worse for the average American today versus 2015-2019.

The economy is considered “strong”, “robust”, and “stable” because corporations are making more money by squeezing us dry.

  2. FACT: Working is a complete waste of time! Money does not have enough value anymore! No livable wages for over 45 years! Cost of living is suicidal and inflation completely out of control! Going off the grid and homesteading is the ONLY good option left! Working in capitalism is slavery 😩😩😩

  3. When jobs from China are coming back to the US soil, economy growing is a result. Also, it is stopping technology transferring to CN. It is a win win one.

  4. Economy is doing well only if you own stocks or massive amounts of real estate. It’s doing well for 0.1% richest of rich like Musk and Bezos. For an average Joe, things have never been worse. Stagnant wages, layoffs in all industries, rising loneliness and healthcare costs. It’s looking very bleak. American dream is dead as young families can’t afford to buy a house and rents are on a tear.

  5. When everything is double the price, how can you be surprised that the GDP is still growing?

Less consumer spending in the huge thing to look at, few more quarters of that dropping will lower the GDP growth.

Did these people actually study economics?

  6. Anyone with functioning senses knows that this isn't being seen by the middle-class. Only upper-middle to high class individuals will see any semblance of improvement, while the middle class itself continues to just become an extended lower-class.

  7. As expected the human stock capital was forced to work 1full and 1half jobs cash in their retirement and savings But as Charles Munger said of the late vacuum Warren Buffett.
"Well who else has accomplished such a feat"🤑🫠🙃🥴🤑
