Yes, the government could demand a new board of directors at Boeing but they won't do it because we have corporate capture of our government agencies and our Secretary of Transportation. This is exactly what RFK Jr will unravel and why we need to support this once in a lifetime candidate who will break the duopoly and return the government to one that serves the people instead of corporate interests.

When the company moved from Seattle to Chicago the excuse was that they were better suited to deal with customers. In reality, it was to make it harder for unions to keep management on a leash. The engineers went on strike for 40 days and brought Boeing to their knees. Stock price dropped to $13 a share. Zero aircraft could be delivered. The Boeing engineers who were de facto FAA employees AKA Master DERs weren’t available to sign off on each aircraft.
I didn’t know that the 737-max was okay for flight without MCAS. The airlines would have to train their pilots to fly it. It’s a shame that the company forced the engineers to install MCAS so pilots wouldn’t need to be retrained! Thus wrecking a perfectly good design that withstood 45 years of flight with only minimal disasters. I don’t know how many 737’s have been delivered, but it was over 9,000 ON MY WATCH. Or 1 very smart natural born leader engineer left Boeing.

Boeing leadership absolutely knew about this defect and absolutely has immutable electronic records indicating their negligent & corrupt behavior. I build these software systems that track design changes for a living.
More engineers need to grow a backbone and protest these horrific abuses. It's pathetic that engineers are not coming out in droves trying to educate the public on this matter. Instead we get snakeoil politicians shilling a false narrative.

Nothing will ever change in this country unless everybody goes on a nationwide work strike. That's literally the only thing that will ever change anything. It's not illegal to not go to work. There would be no violence, no protests. Just stay at home. Couple days, couple weeks, whatever it takes. Problem is, and this is by design, everybody is up to their ass in debt from car payments, mortgage, health insurance etc. But the good news is this- they can't repo all the cars, and they can't foreclose on all the houses. Well they can, but they only do that so they can sell it to somebody else. And I can assure you, politicians (mainly wall street) would be BEGGING us to go back to work within a day, and probably before it even started. Sad that it will never happen because everyone in this country lacks a spine, OR believes that they're actually free and not a peasant wage slave.
Boeing is too dysfunctional to fix, best to just flush the toilet and buy airbus planes from now on. Most importantly, we need accountability for the people who ruined, Boeing to begin with. If we cannot put people in government that will prevent things like Boeings demise from happening. Then eventually, the entire country will fall apart in the same way. Republicans are the wrong people to trust with something as important as the United States of America. They created the rules that allowed the destruction of Boeing and more companies will follow them down the drain once Trump gets in. Boeing is contributing to his campaign.
3:15 – Government subsidies to Airbus ware mostly in the form of load guarantees, which US aircraft manufacturers also got, and they were pocket change compared to what Boeing got in the form of "cost plus" military and other government contracts. Heck, even the great B-747 is a derivative of a government-funded entrant in the strategic airlifter competition (won by Lockheed with their C-5 Galaxy. BTW, Lockheed, the maker of famed Constellation, bowed out of airliner manufacturing after its troubled L-1011 program.)

What these CEO's and top executives don't realize, along with most of the world, is that they are just big kids. Things haven't changed so much since we were all children. They are no better at doing anything than most other intelligent people are. However, they are the bullies of the playground, given their place by previous generations bullies. I'm a moderate Christian but what the Western world needs more of is intelligent civil disobedience that can make a difference for the poor, homeless, working, and middle class.
Another note: Hollowing out the middle class and replacing workers with robots doesn't make any long term sense. Robots don't buy goods and services, so when they finish destroying the economic base, what good will their stock options to them then? Insanity!
Someone please explain to me how Airbus can create safe aircraft in a 'socialist democracy' but we can't in our 'capitalist democracy'. All I hear are how the Europeans don't take work seriously, and take too many vacations, and have socialized medicine and retirement, but they seem to be able to outcompete America on this and other playing fields. I mean we invented the airplane, for crissakes!
