Are far-right Christian nationalists bracing for a second Trump term in US?

34

In anticipation of a Donald Trump re-election, the former president’s allies have already forged policies shaped by a far-right ideology known as Christian nationalism. But what might that actually entail? And would the alliance of Trump and Christian nationalists threaten American democracy?

  1. "We need journalists to expose the facts about white Christian nationalism — yet two major religious-right groups are attacking a Politico reporter for simply doing her job, lashing out at an investigative journalist for revealing their plans to "infuse Christian nationalist ideas" into the government if Donald Trump wins the presidency.

After Politico reporter Heidi Przybyla appeared on MSNBC to discuss her recent piece documenting the ways that a second Trump administration would prioritize Christian nationalism, Tony Perkins' Family Research Council (FRC) and Catholic Vote sent a misleading, politically motivated letter to Politico editors demanding an apology for "smearing of the Christian faith."

They didn't stop there. FRC — listed as a hate group.

And now, Przybyla and a fellow Politico reporter have uncovered documents showing that former Trump official Russell Vought — who is in line to be Trump's chief of staff if he wins in November — is spearheading an effort to make Christian nationalism "a focal point" of Trump's second term.

For those of us who don’t want to see America be turned into a white Christian-nationalist nation — and who are sick of the hateful hijacking of our faith — getting stories like these into the hands of the public is crucial. Polls show that the Christian-nationalist agenda is deeply unpopular with voters, including many Christians. That's why the religious right is investing so heavily into shutting this reporting down.

As a nationwide movement of grassroots Christians, our voices are uniquely important when it comes to showing the press that reporting on white Christian nationalism is not an attack on Christianity.

Thank you for everything you do to love your neighbor and reclaim Christianity from Christian nationalism and white supremacy.

  3. Religious nationalism is everywhere don't you think there is no Muslim nationalism, you may say there is no such concept in Quran but it is the reality there are so many countries who has declared themselves to be Islamic repulic or Islamic emirate comparatively speaking Christian countries are more secular and the fact of the matter secularism (Separation of state from church) was the product of European enlighten movement which was predominantly Christian.

  5. This is such a stupid story about a fringe group in America that really doesn't mean anything. Trump isn't even a real Christian his only religion is money$$ he just pretends for votes.

  6. These Christian nationalist videos tend to suck. They never go into detail about their policies and it must be the poverty of the imaginations of the people who make these videos that prevents them from going into detail about what a world run by Christian nationalists could actually look like. This causes the alarm raising efforts of these videos to fall way short of their intended objective which is to adequetly inform people of the dangers of Trumps election.

  7. Small footnote: TRT is an arm of who? The turks hate Christians for centuries. Turkish nationalism caused terrible suffering in Africa and sub-Sahara black populations.

  8. As a Christian (who is not a Christian Nationalist) allow me to answer your question.

    No.

We began as a Christian nation but will never be one again.

I only know "of" one Christian Nationalist. That is Officer Tatum (who stated that he was) and he is BLACK….

So I would disagree with just about every other bit of nonsense included in this video. 😄

Enjoy throwing your stones and keeping to your narrative.
