Back in the 90’s I worked in New York with GT Interactive, and The New Yorker magazine was known even then for its in-depth reporting and quality writing. Even in today’s TL;DR days, The New Yorker doesn’t shy away from long-form pieces, and this week saw a 10,000 word epic article by their Staff writer Sam knight entitled What Have Fourteen Years of Conservative Rule Done to Britain?, with the byline “Living standards have fallen. The country is exhausted by constant drama. But the U.K. can’t move on from the Tories without facing up to the damage that has occurred.” And Brexit features as a major theme of the article.

We appreciate all of you who share our videos with friends and social media to get the word out there. Together, let’s bring this extreme right wing government to an end.

  5. Also something nobody talks about is how people act as though EVERYONE in the country voted for it, although:
    1. It was almost exact 50-50%
    2. Many young adults, myself included, had no say because at the time we were teens at school… yes, Brexit happened THAT long ago. And we're the ones getting punished the most.

    I thought, at the time, that the older generations cared…

  11. Excellent analysis. Charlatans perfectly describes the Tories. They have forced austerity on the masses and enriched the chosen elite and foreign money launderers. Watching the excellent documentary on the Rise and Fall of Boris Johnson was quite enlightening.

  13. I cannot even begin to fathom how these Western countries consistently elect conservative parties into government, experience drastic slides in quality of life, and then have the puzzling reaction of, “how has the left done this to us?!”

    Furthermore, many of these countries (UK and America – looking at you) don’t have even the slightest representation from actual leftist political parties. The political spectrum spans from the center to the far right.

    It’s quite puzzling.

  18. David Cameron: Never has anyone risked so much for so little. There didn't have to be a Brexit referendum at all. He had a secure majority in parliament, and his MPs were overwhelmingly pro-EU. But a loony minority wanted Brexit, so he called for a referendum, figuring Remain would win easily and he could then tell his lunatic fringe: "The People want the EU so shut up." He should have just told them to shut up without a referendum. What a knob (American expression).

  24. I'm afraid that the madness isn't going to be over, even after the GE. Perhaps I can take some solace that the Tories are going to get a thumping defeat, perhaps less than 100 seats.

Brexit was sold on a buffet of lies, e.g., all the money not being sent to Brussels would improve the NHS, education, etc. while ignoring the important part that the UK got huge subsidies back from Brussels. The Tories were successful in blaming the EU for every problem that they failed to rectify themselves.
